Apple will start taking pre-orders for the Apple Watch Series 7 later this week. The company also confirmed that customers in more than 60 countries will be able to place orders on the same date and time.
Apple Watch Series 7 release date, availability, pricing
The Apple Watch Series 7 was one of the highlights of the company's September launch event. But it was the only hardware product unveiled at the time that did not get specific dates for its pre-order schedule and delivery. That changed on Monday after the tech giant confirmed that the smartwatch would be available for pre-orders on Friday, Oct. 8.
Apple said the Apple Watch Series 7 pre-order will be available on the said date at 5 a.m. PT for customers in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Russia, South Korea, the UAE, the UK, and the US plus “more than 50 countries.” Similar to previous Apple product launches, pre-orders will be available through Apple.com. The smartwatch will arrive in stores, and the earliest deliveries will begin on Friday, Oct. 15.
Apple fans can get the watch from third-party retailers and carriers, but there is an advantage in buying directly from Apple stores. “When customers buy directly from Apple, Apple Watch Studio gives them the exclusive opportunity to pick their preferred case and band combination to create a look that is uniquely their own,” the company said. The popular Solo Loop and Braided Solo Loop bands will be exclusively available at Apple stores.
While Apple.com is displaying the newly announced dates already, it has yet to provide the full details on the Apple Watch Series 7 prices. But the company confirmed that the device’s starting price is set at $399, which most likely applies to the aluminum 41mm Wi-Fi variant. The watch will also be available in 45mm size, while the aluminum case color options include midnight, starlight, green, and a new blue and (PRODUCT)RED.
Apple Watch Series 7 specs, features
The latest announcement still made no mention of the Apple Watch Series 7 processor. But various sources have suggested that it will use the same chip as the Apple Watch 6. The watch received an IP6X certification and has a WR50 rating for dust and water resistance, respectively.
Apple Watch Series 7 will ship with the new watchOS 8. But there is no new health monitoring feature available as the device only features an electrical heart sensor for the ECG app and a blood oxygen sensor. But the smartwatch will support new workout modes and comes with a new Mindfulness app.
