Asian stocks in red, RBA decision in focus

Most Asian stocks fell on Tuesday after global markets had a largely weak session overnight. Moreover RBA rate decision is the main event in early Asian hours.

Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.16% to 17,836.41 points, while Tokyo's broader Topix gauge fell 0.28% at 1,458.51 points.

Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng index fell 0.78% to 19,446.06 points at the opening bell, and mainland China's benchmark Shanghai Composite grew 0.68% to 2,705.79 points at the same time.

Korea's benchmark Kospi index was down 0.48% at 1,915.53 points this morning in Seoul.

The benchmark Australian S&P/ASX 200 index was trading 0.45% lower at 5,019.50 points in Sydney; hours before the RBA is due to deliver its first cash-rate statement for the year.

New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index rose 0.16% to 6,184.45 points.
