Several characters have their own issues to deal with in “Better Call Saul” season 4 episode 10 (a.k.a. the finale). For one, Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) has to “clean up” some mess and it is likely linked to the escape of Werner Ziegler (Rainer Bock).
A recent “Better Call Saul” season 4 episode 10 teaser photo shared through the show’s official Twitter page features Mike. The caption reads, “Mike is on clean up duty.”

Last week, a sneak peek at “Better Call Saul” season 4 episode 10 was released via Rotten Tomatoes, showing Gus and Mike’s conversation about Werner’s escape. The trailer, titled “Werner’s Letter,” does not actually show the note that the German engineer left for his bosses but it is safe to say that Mike believes every word in it. However, Gus looks dangerously emotionless reading the letter.
Mike’s approval, unfortunately, does not guarantee Werner’s safety in “Better Call Saul” season 4 episode 10. There are also several clues that hint he might not survive the finale.
The official synopsis for “Better Call Saul” season 4 episode 10 mentions, “Mike is forced to make a difficult decision.” In the abovementioned sneak peek, Mike tells Gus that he believes Werner will return after four days of visiting his wife and that he will not rat them out.
Is the “Better Call Saul” season 4 episode 10 synopsis hinting that Gus will eventually order for the “clean-up” of Werner’s existence — something that Mike is not keen on doing? It is important to note that Werner’s non-appearance in the original series “Breaking Bad” does not guarantee his survival in the finale as well.
The events leading up to “Better Call Saul” season 4 episode 10 do not help Werner’s case in the eyes of Gus. Notably, Mike has to cover for him every time. In “Coushatta” Werner got drunk and unwittingly started drawing a diagram to describe their top-secret excavation plan to a stranger in a bar.
On the other hand, Werner has also proven himself to be useful in Gus’s superlab project. He took the risk of fixing a faulty detonator wire to destroy a giant rock. Werner's actions led to the continuation of the superlab excavation project. Will this give him some credit so that Gus will refrain from ordering his death in “Better Call Saul” season 4 episode 10? The finale airs on Monday, Oct. 8, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
