Leading full-service blockchain technology firm BitFury and Ukrainian Government have joined hands to build first full-scale blockchain eGovernance program for the country.
A MoU was signed between the head of the State Agency for eGovernance of Ukraine Oleksandr Ryzhenko and BitFury Group CEO, Valery Vavilov in Kyiv to create the blockchain program. It aims to bring the people of Ukraine cost reduction, improved government efficiency & increased transparency to help curb corruption.
“We understand that there’s no alternative way instead of bringing to public services latest technologies. Blockchain has proved itself as a good ground for cost reduction, government efficiency & transparency to help reduce corruption. All these are among our goals. So we’re ready to bring blockchain as part of Ukrainian eGoverment strategy,” Oleksandr Ryzhenko mentioned.
The Ukraine – BitFury blockchain program will start with a pilot test in order to introduce blockchain technology into Ukraine’s eGovernment platform. This pilot project will explore key areas including state registers, public services, social security, public health and the energy sector and others, where blockchain has potential use cases. After the completion of the pilot, the program intends to expand into all other areas, including cybersecurity.
“Our partnership with the Ukrainian government is about making the lives of the Ukrainian people better by making systems work for people and reducing friction across the board for all,” Valery Vavilov, CEO of The Bitfury Group said. “We are grateful to the forward-looking and determined Ukrainian Government for moving in this important direction. The Blockchain is a transformational technology that is easy to use, inexpensive, and much more secure than current systems. We will help ensure everyone can effectively and easily exchange value and ownership in a way they can trust.”
Utilizing blockchain technology in the project will help improve the protection of state databases against unauthorized interference, reduce the cost to citizens, improve overall efficiency, improve investment in Ukraine as well as help curb corruption.
The BitFury Group has worked with Government of Georgia earlier this year in implementing blockchain technology in eGovernment programs. The partnership worked to expand historic blockchain land-titling project that was built by Georgia’s National Agency of Public Registry (NAPR).
