Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) fell to their lowest levels since August in late Sunday trading, as investors weighed the political outlook for U.S. crypto rules, Reuters reported.

Bitcoin dropped more than 2% to $73,708, while Ether lost about 5% to $2,223, Reuters said. The outlet linked investor unease to the risk that a Congress under Democratic control could take a harder line on crypto oversight.

The Associated Press called Democratic control of the Senate on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and of the House on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Those were election calls, not final certification figures. A separate Reuters report said the crypto sector had been seeking faster deregulation of digital assets.

Reuters also pointed to Binance’s security incident as another factor shaping crypto-market sentiment. Binance estimated the incident’s impact at about $6.3 billion. The FBI said North Korea was responsible for stealing more than $6 billion in virtual assets from Binance on or about Oct. 29. Binance said it would absorb the financial impact rather than pass it on to users.
