In its latest status update, Bitcoin Classic has announced that it now has support from the majority of miners and prominent online wallets and exchanges.
It said that miners including Bitmain/Antpool, BW.COM, HAOBTC.com, KnCMiner, Genesis Mining and Avalon Miner have all made the commitment to switch to Classic. BitFury, a leading fully integrated Bitcoin blockchain infrastructure provider and transaction processing company, recently announced its support for Bitcoin Classic.
On the other hand, the official website lists various companies in the digital currency space that supports Bitcoin Classic: Coinbase, Blockchain.info, OKCoin, Xapo, Bitstamp, Bitcoin.com, Foldapp, Bread Wallet, Snapcard.io, Cubits, Vaultoro, Coinify, Bitso, Bitnet, BitOasis, Lamassu, BlockCypher, BitQuick.co and itBit.
Moreover, several high level developers have started contributing to the project, and many more have been joining in.
Bitcoin Classic has also announced “Adopt-A-Developer Program”, in which the bitcoin community can sponsor their most preferred developer at its website. Developers will list their own bitcoin address, and can set their monthly/yearly wage targets.
“It is open to all Bitcoin developers, no matter what client, wallet, implementation or version they are working on. This will ensure our brightest and smartest can contribute as much time as possible in evolving Bitcoin”, Bitcoin Classic said.
Speaking of the release plan, the team said that initial beta/test release will be based on bitcoin-core 0.11.2 and it will have a 2MB block size limit. The source code will be made available by the end of this month. Work on 0.12 will start after the release of 0.11.2. Currently, the activation threshold percentage and earliest activation date are being discussed and will be announced next week.
