Leading bitcoin wallet service provider Blockchain has reached a major milestone this week as it registered its 10 millionth wallet.
The announcement follows the startup’s recent collaboration with Coinify allowing its users in Europe to seamlessly and expediently fund their Blockchain wallets without compromising user security or control. Earlier this year, Blockchain released the third version of its flagship product, the Blockchain Wallet.
“And earlier this week we hit our 10 millionth wallet”, Blockchain said.
The company explained that reaching this milestone at this particular moment is not a coincidence, and attributed it to recent geopolitical events which led to heightened activity and transactions in bitcoin.
“Bitcoin has become a safe haven in the face of geopolitical events like the Brexit vote, the US Presidential election and a weakening Yuan; we’ve seen unprecedented levels of activity and transactions on our platform as a result”, it added.
Blockchain said that it is seeing record levels of activity across its platform, which signifies that people are embracing the need for a more globally accessible financial system, and one that does not exclude over one-third of the world’s population.
"Bitcoin hasn’t yet replaced the established financial system, and we have a long way to go before the general public forsakes banks, cash or credit cards in favor of cryptocurrency”, it said. “While there’s still a lot to do, we can’t help but pause this week to give thanks for the millions of users who are helping us build an open, fair and accessible financial future.”
