New members have joined Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA) to collaborate on the adoption, education, and development of a standard framework around blockchain in the freight industry.
Formed in August 2017, BiTA counts over 250 freight transportation companies as its members which includes the likes of FedEx, SAP, UPS, Salesforce, and Schneider, among others.
The new members include Transplace, a transportation management services and logistics technology solutions provider; Hub Group, a multi-modal transportation solutions provider; and enterprise DLT solutions provider DLT Labs.
According to FrieghtWaves, DLT Labs has developed a proprietary framework to design and deliver distributed enterprise solutions with high scalability, security, and throughput. It has experience with a number of blockchain protocols, including Hyperledger Fabric, Ethereum, and Corda, among others.
Transplace CTO Mike Dieter will also serve on the BiTA Standards Council Board of Directors.
“As a leading logistics technology provider focused on innovation, it is exciting for Transplace to be part of setting a standard for an emerging technology that has the potential to provide greater visibility to the entire supply chain,” said Dieter. “Actively taking part in industry-wide efforts to develop and adopt solutions to better track goods as they move throughout the supply chain further supports Transplace’s ongoing commitment to deliver greater value to its customers.”
