CJ ChielJedang Corporation is a leading food company based in Seoul, South Korea. It has announced the launch of its Cuisine.K project with the aim of nurturing young Korean chefs to step up the expansion of Korean food (K-food) worldwide.
CJ CheilJedang explained that it launched its Cuisine.K project to discover and help develop young chefs in the country. The company believes that helping them will play a big part in boosting the expansion of K-food around the world.
As per The Korea Economic Daily, under the project, Cuisne.K will provide support to national teams competing in international cooking competitions as a sponsor. It will also open Korean pop-up restaurants where the chefs could showcase K-food.
CJ CheilJedang’s Cuisine.K project will also shoulder the tuition, airfare, and lodging expenses of young chefs so they can study at prestigious culinary schools in Europe and other countries. Moreover, the food manufacturing giant will also promote the formation of Korean education programs in foreign cooking schools.
It is also planning to team up with top Korean chefs to carry out food research and practical cooking classes. CJ Group’s chairman, Lee Jae Hyun, previously expressed his wish for people around the world to regularly enjoy Korean food. He is hoping that the chefs that their company will support will lead the way for K-food to spread further globally.
In any case, with this vision of Chairman Lee, his son Lee Seon Ho, who is the current head of CJ CheilJedang's food businesses and growth strategies, proposed the Cuisine.K project. For starters, the project is set to sponsor teams of young chefs who are competing in the "2023 Korea International Cooking and Confectionery Competition," which is set to take place from May 19 to May 21.
“The Cuisine.K project is a product of our focus on further accelerating the globalization of Korean food,” Pulse News quoted Lee Seon Ho as saying in a statement. “It may be our future dream, but we will establish a Korean culinary school like Le Cordon Bleu where the world can learn about Korean food culture.”
