Conference To address Compliance Of Digital Currency

Aten Coin to hold a conference on addressing the privacy concerns raised when dealing with a digital currency to prevent criminal activity.

A conference is to be held on 27th May, 2016 at Chicago titled, “Beyond Bitcoin: Privacy, Money, Crime, and a Better Digital Currency.” The conference will focus on the crime-related problems associated with Bitcoin. It will also focus on how Aten Coin can bring digital currency into compliance with criminal and financial laws.

There will be three panel discussions during the conference apart from the main discussion on the overview. The conference website said that, the panel discussion will be on ‘Money Laundering and Digital Currency’, ‘Reaping Benefits, Respecting Privacy’ and ‘Securing Digital Currency.’

The first panel discussion ‘Money Laundering and Digital Currency’ will examine the current money laundering issues posed by the use of digital currency. The second discussion ‘Reaping Benefits, Respecting Privacy’ will address on whether and how we can combine combatting money laundering with adequate respect for privacy. The third one ‘Securing Digital Currency’ will examine technological requirements, psychological effects, and legal issues involved in providing adequate security for digital currency.

The website stated that, “What Aten Coin offers is good for controlling money laundering, but raises concerns about privacy. The conflict reflects the dual nature of financial regulation.” It also stated saying, “Anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism law require identifying parties in financial transactions and filing reports on suspicious activity, but privacy regulations restrict the disclosure of personally identifying information.”

The conference will see speakers like John Fahy from Whitaker Chalk Swindle & Shwartz PLLC, Richard Warner, Professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Konrad Bojar from NAC Foundation, Martin Mushkin from Law Office of Martin Mushkin to mention few.

Aten Coin Foundation in partnership with the IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law and its Office of Continuing Legal Education hosts this conference. Admission to the conference is free and open to the public as well.
