“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is one of the most popular Japanese manga that has been adapted for animation. It was created by Koyoharu Gotōge, and the anime debuted last year.

The first season offered 26 full episodes, and it ended on a high note. The response from the viewers was so great that a movie version called “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train” was produced by the Ufotable.

The film was released in Japan on Oct. 16 and is now this year’s highest-grossing Japanese movie. Anime News Network reported that on the premiere day alone, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train” raked in ¥1,500,944,600 or around US$14.3 million in profits, and this figure continues to balloon in the next days and weeks.

Is the series renewed?

Now, with this monster result from the movie, there is no question that the producers will renew “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” season 2. In fact, even before the movie was released, the first season alone already gained so many viewers that they are asking for more episodes.

Ufotable Studios will definitely not think twice about making the second season of this anime. Then again, it should be noted that an official announcement for the new installment has yet to be made.

Production is in the works, and the predicted release date

While there, it is not clear if Ufotable has already greenlighted “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” season 2, there are rumors that its production has started already. This started in a tweet by an anime expert who revealed that filming is underway. Monsters and Critics quoted Twitter user Spy True as tweeting: “We killed one demon. The rest is soon other. Let’s kill the second one. Confirmed mission.”

This was followed by a new message that reads: “Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 in Production.” In any case, while this is not confirmed yet, many are convinced that this info is true, as the poster is known to release news updates about animes.

Finally, if this rumor is accurate, fans could be seeing “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” season 2 by the end of 2021. If Ufotable Studios needed more time, then it will be arriving in the first half of 2022.
