Distributed: Trade is the first global conference event focusing on blockchain technology applications for both trade networks and financial services. It will be held at the Washington University in St. Louis starting June 12, 2016.
The conference will bring the industry’s leading blockchain technology companies together with major enterprises. It is aimed to discover how the new technology will disrupt and optimize trade networks and financial services. This conference is hosted by Washington University in St. Louis and is sponsored by innovators Gem, Fluent, RGAx, E&Y and Thomson Reuters.
The hackathon is being held at T-REX, a world-class facility in the heart of downtown St. Louis that incubates technology startups and provides resources to entrepreneurs. President of T-REX Dr. Patricia Hagen told bitcoin magazine that, “We are excited to host this Blockchain Hackathon in partnership with SixThirty, one of T-REX’s premier resident accelerators, who are a national and international leader in finding and funding cutting-edge financial technologies.” Adding to the statement, Hagen said, “A Blockchain Hackathon is a result of great partnerships and a demonstration of T-REX’s role as a hub of technology innovation in St. Louis.”
The conference attendees will include professionals from leading industry startups, financial services institutions, logistics services providers, investment firms, corporate treasurers, manufacturers and academic and policy groups worldwide.
Distributed: Trade will witness speakers ranging from executive leaders and tech entrepreneurs like Jimmie Lenz, Senior Vice President, Wells Fargo; Madhav Goparaju, Executive Director, Financial Services Advisory, EY; Micah Winkelspecht, CEO, Gem, an enterprise blockchain application platform to mention few.
The conference website stated that, the programs will explore blockchain applications for supply chains, global payments, insurance services and capital market operations. Few topics to be discussed are managing a global supply chain on a blockchain, how blockchains are re-inventing financial services, current initiatives and proof-of-concept projects etc.
