Donald Trump claims to no longer experience COVID-19 symptoms

Donald Trump has had an eventful weekend after testing positive for COVID-19. Since returning to the White House the other day after getting discharged from Walter Reed Hospital, Trump claims he is no longer experiencing the symptoms of coronavirus while saying that Americans should learn to live with it.

Trump once again compared the coronavirus to the flu on Twitter on Tuesday upon returning to Washington. He was discharged from Walter Reed after a three-night stay and given a cocktail of medication to treat the mild symptoms he was feeling since contracting coronavirus. However, Trump continued to downplay the severity of the pandemic, which now has millions of Americans infected and 210,000 dead.

“Flu season is coming up! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu. Are we going to close down our Country? No, we have learned to live with it, just like we are learning to live with COVID, in most populations far less lethal!” tweeted Trump.

It should be noted that while there are studies that found that the coronavirus is found to be less lethal among children and younger people compared to the flu, the Centers for Disease Control warned that there is no conclusive evidence to prove that claim. The CDC also warned that COVID-19 has a higher mortality rate among the general population, especially those with pre-existing conditions and the elderly.

Nevertheless, Trump has continued to tweet attacks towards his critics and the media while saying that he is doing very well. Trump has also made it clear that he looks forward to the second presidential debate with Joe Biden and getting back into the campaign trail, which temporarily halted following his diagnosis.

Previously, Trump has placed pressure on both the White House and Congress to reach an end deal to the new COVID-19 stimulus during the time he was getting treated. However, he recently changed his stance and abruptly called to a temporary halt of stimulus talks until after the elections, assuming that he will get re-elected.

“I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election, when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business,” tweeted Trump.
