CLEARWATER, Fla., Feb. 25, 2016 -- On Saturday February 27th, 2016, the Foundation for a Drug Free World Florida, an organization supported by the Church of Scientology, will participate in its 40th event of 2016, “Race for the Cupcake” at Pass-A-Grille Beach in Hurley Park, St. Pete Beach to spread its message of The Truth About Drugs. Just last weekend, Drug Free World attended the Gasparilla Race and Health Expo at the Tampa Convention Center, not only providing a booth with information on its message but also including 20 runners in the race wearing the Foundation’s logo.
Roxanne Siero, the Executive Director for the Foundation for a Drug Free World Florida said, "It is up to all of us to get the truth about the harmful effects of drugs to every corner of society where drugs have taken root and are destroying lives. In order to achieve this, we have partnered with 115 other like-minded organizations throughout the Tampa Bay area since our opening." Additionally, since the beginning of 2016 alone, some 1,400 people have visited the Foundation’s information center in downtown Clearwater while Foundation staff and volunteers have distributed some 40,000 Truth About Drugs booklets. Siero’s message echoes a quote from humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard which is prominently inscribed on the Foundation’s reception wall: “The single most destructive element in these societies is drugs.”
The Foundation for a Drug Free World Florida features award-winning public service announcements and informational documentaries on each individual commonly abused drug. It also offers seminar rooms for drug education lectures and workshops. Truth About Drugs Education Packages are available in the center at no cost for educators to use in school and community settings. The Center at 29 North Fort Harrison Avenue in downtown Clearwater is open to everyone from 10 am to 10 pm daily. For more information call 727-467-6962.
