General Motors' Korean unit expands its digital showroom by adding Chevy Colorado and Traverse SUV to its online lineup, streamlining vehicle purchases amid rising demand for online shopping and digital transactions.
On Sunday, Sept. 3, GM Korea said that starting this month, it will sell more vehicles directly through its online platform. As per Yonhap News Agency, the Korean unit of General Motors is taking this step to increase sales.
In addition to three vehicle models that it already made available online, which include Chevrolet's Bolt EUV and Tahoe SUV, and GMC's Sierra Denali pickup truck, GM Korea expanded the lineup by including the Chevy Colorado mid-size truck and Traverse SUV.
Aside from increasing its sales, General Motors' other reason for adding more vehicles to its online store is to improve customer convenience and accessibility of vehicle purchases for customers in South Korea. Korea's EBN News further reported that GM Korea is taking this step after considering customers' current preferences for online purchases and digital payments.
General Motors launched its online sales system in South Korea for the first time in May 2021. The company posted models exclusive for online sales, and this setup proved successful as sales for the Chevrolet Bolt EUV were good.
"GM is striving for customer satisfaction based on the customer-first value of 'Customers should always be at the center of everything," GM Korea's vice president of operations sales and operations, Gustavo Colossi, said in a statement. "This expansion of the online sales lineup, including the Colorado and Traverse, reflects GM's will to increase purchasing accessibility for customers in regions without showrooms or those who have difficulty visiting showrooms, and to provide the best service to domestic customers."
Meanwhile, GM Korea's customers who want to buy vehicles online can head to Chevrolet and GMC Online. They can get quotations there and will be assisted with payments and delivery of vehicles without the need to visit the showroom.
