The year 2019 has been filled with release date announcements for some of the biggest video games that fans are looking forward to for years. While that has yet to happen for “GTA 6,” reports picked up on other clues that may be suggesting that it will be launched within a year as well.
It is common in the gaming industry to learn about release dates through information leaks. There were also instances where video game companies’ job postings online hint at the development of a highly anticipated title. And a recent report suggests that it might be the case for “GTA 6.”
'GTA 6’ possible release date: Next game to be launched in late 2020?
Rockstar Leeds, a UK-based division of Rockstar Games, has an active job offer posted online looking for their new Environment Artist. Unsurprisingly, the title at which the new developer is needed is never mentioned in the listing, but parts of the job description stirred speculations that it could be intended for “GTA 6.” Rockstar Leeds has contributed to the development of previously released “GTA” titles, including “GTA V.”
The video game company wants their next Environment Artist to work on, “Creating exciting and believable artwork, creating and texturing environment assets for the biggest and best open-world environments in the industry.” The job post is also believed to be for “GTA 6” because Rockstar Leeds promises the opportunity to work on “next-generation worlds.” That might be hinting at a game compatible with upcoming consoles from Sony and Microsoft.
If the job opportunity is meant to expand the team developing “GTA 6,” it could mean a couple of things. First, the work on the next main title release has started for some time now. Second, there is a possibility that Rockstar Games already has a target release date for it. And if the said job posting is any indication, there is a chance for “GTA 6” to be launched in late 2020.
‘GTA 6’ leaks: Developers reportedly eye ‘holiday 2020’ launched
It is still best to take these reports with a pinch of salt until Rockstar makes an official announcement. But, interestingly, this is not the only report pointing at a late 2020 launch for “GTA 6.” It can be recalled that there was an earlier information leak claiming that the game could be released in “holiday 2020” and might even be initially exclusive on PlayStation 5.
