Genesis proudly announced reaching a milestone of 1 million global sales this August. The brand's offerings, including the popular G80 sedan and SUVs GV70 and GV80, have garnered significant global attention in under eight years.
Since its launch in November 2015, Genesis, the luxury brand launched by Hyundai Motor Group in 2015, has sold over 690,000 vehicles, with an additional 318,000 units sold in international markets. The brand's sales rapidly rose, surpassing 500,000 units in May 2021.
Leading the pack is the Genesis G80, a mid-sized sports sedan that has seen more than 390,000 units sold since its introduction in 2016. The G80 represents the core identity of Genesis, delivering a perfect blend of performance, style, and luxury.
Genesis expanded its offerings with its first-ever SUVs, the GV70 and GV80, significantly contributing to its global success. These SUVs have already achieved combined sales of over 330,000 units worldwide.
Genesis has set an ambitious goal of achieving complete electrification by 2025. The brand aims to release all-new Genesis vehicles as electric models, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and innovation.
"Genesis has been dedicated to providing exceptional experiences and value to our customers since day one," stated Genesis Executive Vice President Song Min-kyu. This customer-centric approach has been the driving force behind the brand's immense popularity and success.
Genesis vehicles are renowned for their athletic elegance and design philosophy. Starting with the flagship G90 sedan, the brand has expanded its lineup to include various internal combustion engine and electric vehicle options. The Genesis lineup has grown from four to ten models with this expansion.
In addition to Hyundai's home market of South Korea, Genesis vehicles are now available in 17 major overseas markets, including the United States, Europe, China, and Australia. This global presence has played a crucial role in the brand's achievements and pursuit of excellence.
The brand's commitment to quality has also been recognized by J.D. Power, with Genesis topping the list in its initial quality study. Ranked first consecutively since 2017, Genesis regained the top position in 2021, demonstrating its dedication to delivering top-notch products and customer satisfaction.
To meet the increasing global demand for electric vehicles, Genesis is expanding its production bases worldwide. The Genesis Electrified GV70 compact SUV is being manufactured in Hyundai Motor's factory in Alabama, USA.
Furthermore, Hyundai plans to establish the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) E.V. manufacturing facility in Georgia by 2025. That would strengthen Genesis' presence in the North American E.V. market.
As Genesis celebrates this remarkable achievement and sets its sights on a future defined by innovation and sustainability, the brand continues to redefine what luxury means in the automotive industry.
