Global art award Lumen Prize collaborates with Ascribe to launch blockchain based online platform

The Lumen Prize, an international award and tour for digital art and all works offered through Lumenus, has announced that it has partnered with Ascribe in order to launch a new blockchain-powered online marketplace that is keen in promoting the sale of digital art works by award-winning artists across the world.

According to the official announcement, the marketplace offers a secure way to collect digital editions. The partnership ensures that each edition is registered with a certificate of authenticity that can be verified with blockchain technology, including inbuilt cryptographic unique ID to each piece of art.

“Lumenus has been designed to make collecting digitally created works of art as easy as possible and to provide opportunities for digital artists to sell their works to new audiences in a secure fashion,” Carla Rapoport , director and founder of Lumen said.

In a need to provide digitally native artists with greater opportunities, Lumen Prize was launched in 2012 and has disbursed nearly $45,000 in prize money, toured the world four times and staged over 30 shows, seminars, and events in a bid to raise the enjoyment of digital art across the globe.

Founded in 2014, Ascribe is a service that allows creators to lock in attribution and securely share and track where their work spreads online. Using blockchain technology to create a digital uniqueness that can be verified and proven, ascribe.io provides a concrete system of authenticity.
