Months after the release of GoPro HERO8 Black and users of the action camera still have more things to look forward to. The last of the all-new mod accessories specifically made for the camera will be released soon. Meanwhile, the company confirms the product has greatly contributed to its successful 2019 fourth quarter in terms of profit and revenue.
GoPro HERO8 Black new accessories: When is the Display Mod going on sale?
When GoPro HERO8 Black was announced last fall, along with the MAX 360 camera, it was also revealed that the company would unveil new accessories. In particular, GoPro has planned three all-new mods for the action camera, namely the Light Mod, Media Mod, and Display Mod.
The Light Mod hit the stores in late 2019 while GoPro opened 2020 with the release of Media Mod. The last one, Display Mod, is slated to become available for pre-order this month while it’s delivery and retail launch is anticipated before the end of the first quarter.
GoPro HERO8 Black users can visit the official website for the accessories to sign up and receive a notification once the pre-order starts sometime in February. However, some third-party retailers are already accepting pre-orders probably because the launch of the product is already certain to happen anyway.
The Display Mod features a 2-inch flip screen that can be best used for vlogging. It is also packed with its own built-in rechargeable battery for $79.99. It is also important that it requires the Media Mod to be attached to the body of GoPro HERO8 Black, which is sold separately for the same price.
GoPro HERO8 Black sales lead to the company’s record-breaking Q4 revenue and profit
The brand of GoPro is one of the most recognizable names in the premium action camera industry. And the company reported during its Q4 2019 earnings call that the sales of GoPro HERO8 Black and MAX cameras have helped them achieved some of the best fourth quarters in the company’s history.
“In December, sell through returned to levels still slightly up from the HERO7 line in the prior year, but below our growth expectations,” GoPro CEO Nicholas Woodman said about the HERO8 Black and MAX sales. “Despite these dynamics, we generated fourth quarter revenue of $528 million, the third largest quarter in our history and $102 million in profit, our second most profitable quarter ever.”
