Warner Bros. Games had finally announced its next major DC title, “Gotham Knights,” and it is going to be an action role-playing game featuring four new playable characters. Fans should not expect anything familiar, though. The four fighters, while connected to Batman, will be introduced with all-new stories and distinct superhero powers.
‘Gotham Knights’ playable characters have distinct abilities and backstories
Anyone wondering if they would still get to play as Batman in “Gotham Knights” might end up quite disappointed. The gameplay plot, in fact, picks up from the death of the Dark Knight, so members of the Batman Family -- Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin -- are called in to keep Gotham City safe.
Each of the four playable characters is an expert at something different from the other heroes in “Gotham Knights.” Batgirl has her hacking abilities to offer aside from being good in combat since she is well-trained in martial arts such as jiu-jitsu, capoeira, and kickboxing.
Nightwing is described as the “wisest member” of the Batman Family, which could be related to him being the eldest in the group, too. But it could also have something to do with being trained by Batman himself. Aside from his leadership skills, he is also reliable in combat, thanks to his “mastery in acrobatics.”
Red Hood is the anti-hero of the group because he is prone to have explosive episodes, but he will not hesitate to help out a member of the Batman Family no matter how dangerous it could be. The “Gotham Knights” character is described to possess “peak human strength.”
Lastly, “Gotham Knights” players can assume the role of Robin, who has both the brawn and brains. He is a capable fighter and an expert in stealth techniques while also being well-versed in psychological warfare.
Aside from the distinctive abilities and stories, each “Gotham Knights” playable character comes armed with their signature weapon. Batgirl has the melee tonfa, Nightwing is equipped with the double Escrima Sticks, Red Hood is the master of traditional and high-tech weapons, and Robin wields a collapsible quarterstaff.
‘Gotham Knights’ release date, gameplay: What has been announced so far
Knowing the abilities of each character will help gamers as “Gotham Knights” is confirmed to offer a two-player online cooperative gameplay along with the solo campaign. The action RPG will be released sometime in 2021 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
