InterDigital’s oneMPOWERTM powered by wot.ioTM platform wins Best Solution for Transportation & Logistics at IoT Solutions World Congress
WILMINGTON, Del., Oct. 27, 2016 -- InterDigital, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDCC), a mobile technology research and development company, today announced that it has received the IoT Solutions Award in the “Best Solution for Transportation & Logistics” category from IoT Solutions World Congress 2016 for the role of its oneMPOWERTM powered by wot.ioTM IoT platform in oneTRANSPORT.
The IoT Solutions Awards recognized the most innovative and impactful projects that have been developed over the course of the year in seven categories: manufacturing, transportation & logistics, healthcare, energy & utilities, innovation & technology, business transformation and IoT testbed. The “Best Solution for Transportation & Logistics” award was based upon industrial internet application, drivers behind the innovation, challenges the solution addresses and distinguishing features.
InterDigital’s oneMPOWERTM powered by wot.ioTM horizontal IoT platform serves a two-fold role within the oneTRANSPORT intelligent transport system trial. The platform enables local authorities to consolidate the data feeds within a single environment, allows independent application developers access to offer value-added data services and end-user applications, and allows third party transportation sensor owners to contribute their data streams to the marketplace. Second, as part of the trial, InterDigital is integrating the data assets and creating several sample applications that utilize the data marketplace.
“We’re honored to receive this prestigious award from IoT Solutions World Congress,” said Jim Nolan, Executive Vice President, IoT Solutions, InterDigital. “The award underscores the unique value that our horizontal platform solution provides by supporting multiple IoT applications, customers, and application developers while ensuring interoperability through the use of the oneM2MTM standard.”
oneTRANSPORT is a two-year Innovate UK project, involving a consortium of eleven partners including Arup, Buckinghamshire County Council, Clearview Intelligence, Hertfordshire County Council, Highways England, Imperial College London, Northamptonshire County Council, Oxfordshire County Council, Traak Systems, Worldsensing and InterDigital Europe. Through the collaboration of its participating members, the technology utilized by this integrated transport initiative will assist transport authorities while laying the foundation for smarter multi-modal, multi-regional and multi-system transport networks in the UK.
