Airbitz Inc, a San Diego-based blockchain and data security company, has announced its partnership with Lunyr, a decentralized world knowledge base that runs on the Ethereum blockchain.
In a blog post, Lunyr explained that it partnered with Airbitz to solve the problem of managing private keys in Ethereum, which makes it difficult for a mainstream audience to adopt the platform. Airbitz’s flagship product – Edge Security Platform – delivers a familiar and easy, yet highly secure, account creation process for end-users that automatically encrypts, backs up, and even synchronizes private keys and account data across devices.
Edge Security allows users for the first time to securely and seamlessly use decentralized blockchain apps like Lunyr, which has so far raised over $580,000 in an ongoing crowdfunding drive, scheduled to end on April 26, 2017.
"The user experience of managing private keys in Ethereum makes it difficult for a mainstream audience to adopt the platform. To solve this problem, we’ve teamed up with Airbitz, which has been working on a decentralized, secure, peer-to-peer synchronized, cryptographic key management system since 2014. With Airbitz, Lunyr users will have the ability to login and manage their accounts through a traditional username and password experience while maintaining a high level of cryptographic security. Users remain in full control of their private keys. With this partnership, Lunyr strives to become more easily adopted by a mainstream audience”, Arnold Pham, Lunyr, Project Lead, said.
The Lunyr partnership means a third Ethereum-based app can now deploy Edge Security for its end-users making usability much more accessible to a mainstream audience while still ensuring that the user remains in sole control of their private data.
Lunyr joins the growing list of premier blockchain applications utilizing Airbitz Edge Security alongside Augur, the decentralized prediction market; Wings.ai, a platform to create and manage DAOs; and Blockfrieght, a blockchain based freight logistics solution. With Airbitz, Lunyr users would be able to login and manage their accounts through a traditional username and password experience while maintaining a high level of cryptographic security and retaining full control of their private keys.
“This is a very exciting project for us at Airbitz. Lunyr has an exceptional team and they have a vision that is both highly useful and ideologically exciting for those of us in the blockchain space. Knowledge and information is power. We think everyone in the world should be able to easily access and contribute to reliable, accurate information while at the same time being able to secure their own personal information and value while doing it. The partnership between Lunyr and Airbitz is an example of where technology is heading. Decentralized, open, secure, and liberating", Paul Puey, Airbitz, CEO, said.
With plans to bring Edge Security to many more apps in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and beyond, Airbitz said it is positioned to be the world’s first fully private single sign-on and key management solution for interacting with blockchains. The startup aims to help enable a simple and familiar user experience for its partners in addition to building a Single-Sign-On ecosystem of users for blockchain applications across all of its partner applications.
