The “Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered” chatter is starting to peak once more as EA and BioWare are reportedly planning to release the collection by October. Just like many things in 2020, however, the sources suggest a delay cannot be ruled out yet.
‘Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered’ release date rumors
The entire “Mass Effect” trilogy was originally released before the current generation of consoles were available. Despite the many requests for BioWare to remaster the original main series for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the developer and publisher EA went on a different route. They launched “Mass Effect: Andromeda” in 2017, which was somewhat a game with a separate premise from the original trilogy.
However, that might be changing in the coming months. Talks about a “Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered” has been making headlines again. Gaming industry insider Jeff Grubb of GamesBeat reiterated, during a Friday podcast, that the project is “real” after seeing “more than enough evidence” pointing at the release of a remastered collection.
What’s questionable, per Grubb’s sources, is the planned release date for “Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered.” The journalist claimed that the last thing he heard was EA aiming to launch the bundle by October in time for the holiday with a potential $60 price tag. “But with everything else falling apart, like across the board, I could see them also wanting to just delay,” he added.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time “Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered” has made the rounds online. Gaming fans in the United Kingdom shared receipts and other proofs that they were able to pre-order a game making references to “N7” with a late September release date. It then started speculations that the unannounced remastered bundle is in the works. But retail store GAME later canceled online and in-store pre-orders with an email saying the product does not exist and the pre-order offer was just a “communication error.”
‘Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered’ gameplay and content to expect
If “Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered” ended up being a real project, there are other questions needed to be answered other than its release window. Fans might want to know if the rumored bundle would include the DLC expansions released in between the main titles, which is a common strategy in launching remastered collections.
Grubb expressed uncertainty on whether or not the “Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered” would be a full-fledged remake of the original titles and suggested that it is more likely just an “upgrade.” With new generations of consoles arriving in November, it would not be surprising for EA and BioWare to want to bring the popular games to, at least, the PS4 and Xbox One systems.
