Lil Nas X collaborated with MSCHF to create the controversial “satan shoes.” The name is not just what makes it an issue, but the fact that each pair contains drops of human blood is just revolting for many.
The repurposed Nike shoes
Lil Nas X, an American singer, used Nike Air Max 97s to design shoes that have outraged many people, especially the parents, since the singer has young fans. It was said that the design was inspired by the 21-year-old singer’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” music video that was released not long ago.
Lil Nas X was recently included in Time Magazine’s top 25 most influential people on the internet. Thus, after launching this pair of shoes, many have been questioning his inclusion in the list. He has been named as an influencer, but what is he promoting?
According to TMZ, the shoes with a drop of blood bear a Bible verse on the side, and it’s from Luke 10:18 that talks about the devil’s fall from heaven. There is also the triple 6 number on the stern of the shoes.
It was said that the design also features crosses that were placed upside-down, plus there is a pentagram metal attached to the shoelaces, and this could be easily seen on the front. The human blood is placed on the soles, and it was mixed with red ink.
Each shoe will have 60CC ink and 1 drop of human blood as per the product description. When the person wearing it walks, the blood could be seen swaying back and forth with every step. In any case, whose blood that was used in the shoes was not revealed.
These Lil Nas X Nike shoes are limited, and only 666 pairs would be sold at $1,018 each. As can be expected, the box is also bright red and bearing hellish theme symbols.
Nike’s involvement in the “satan shoes”
The shoes really raised big concerns from the public, but it was revealed that while Nike’s Air Max 97 shoe model was used for this collaboration project between Lil Nas X and MSCHF, the company has nothing to do with its release or design. This means that Nike did not create this, and it will not be selling it either.
Speaking with Snopes, Nike’s representative said the company has no involvement in Lil Nas X’s shoe design. They may have used one of the brand’s shoe models, but it is not Nike’s design.
