Plenty of business articles focus on successful management and team-building. But it’s nearly next to impossible to find a material that would tell you how to become an effective leader if you haven't managed a team for a day. “The ability to lead people is a skill that can only be learned and mastered in actual practice”, reveals Rustam Gilfanov.
Rustam believes that a successful key man must have leadership skills and an ability to influence subordinates. One of the main principles of fruitful coordination and influence is based on three pillars: strong professionalism, a delegation of authority, and effective communication.
High professionalism
The leader is to have strong expertise in his field of management and have a deep knowledge of business’ specifics. He needs to recognize global trends and apply breakthrough technologies to boost his business to an entirely new level. A true leader wields the high authority and assertiveness for his team.
Correct delegation of authority
Delegation of authority is effective when you know how to delegate a part of your tasks and responsibilities to the right people. These employees should also possess the right skills and qualifications. Assignment of authority will be successful if you stick to the following equation: delegation = setting up of the problem + responsibility + powers and resources. Some leaders tend to do everything by themselves, which is rife with consequences and often causes resentment and conflicts.
Communication with a team
Your team is one of your most important assets. A good leader not only knows how to effectively communicate with all staff members but tries to do it as often as he can. This triggers trust, engagement, motivation, and high-quality feedback. Exemplary communication skills of a leader also include involvement and concern, ability to listen, respond (verbally and non-verbally), inspire, and often act as a protective shield and even as a psychological aid to those with problems.
Rustam thinks that your personal attributes – emotional and cross-cultural acumen, openness, and responsiveness are among the most important qualities of a successful leader.
If you want to achieve success and keep it going, endlessly put all your efforts and experience into your team. R. Gilfanov believes that you surely cannot be a good leader by birth, all leadership abilities are learned by experience, so you have every chance to become a strong man at the wheel who drives his company to success and beyond. Leadership is a powerful tool that should and must be used!
