THREAT OF TAX ON EU AUTOMOBILE IMPORTS IS A STRIKE AGAINST AMERICAN CONSUMERS

Washington, DC, March 05, 2018 -- Statement by John Bozzella, President and CEO, Global Automakers on behalf of Here for America

“This is two strikes on American consumers in three days. First, the prices of U.S.-built cars will increase because of tariffs on steel and aluminum. The same will happen if you tax European-built vehicles. Europe and America have a long history of investing in each other. The first American auto plant opened in Europe more than a century ago, and European car and truck makers operate plants in more than a quarter of our states. There's simply no benefit to the American worker, consumer, or economy from an escalation here.”
