The reunion between Emma, Ray, and Norman in the previous chapter has been one of the most heartwarming developments in the manga for a long time. Positive developments like that don’t happen very often with this series and for good reason. However, it would appear that even this point of light has its shadow, as shown in “The Promised Neverland” Chapter 122. It seems Norman is no longer himself.
Before the blonde genius showed up again in a truly unexpected fashion, readers of the manga already had a grasp on his personality. As can be expected, however, he has changed and is no longer the warm child that he used to be. As TheAnimeScrolls reports, the previous chapter showed a crying innocent figure. In “The Promised Neverland” Chapter 122, he becomes a cold and calculating leader.
This is what recent leaks of raw pages seem to be showing, depicting a scene where Norman is speaking to a new face in a manner that suggests there are two sides to him. The new character comments on the blonde’s change of personality upon meeting Emma and the rest of the children. It would seem that “The Promised Neverland” Chapter 122 has plenty of interesting revelations for the readers.
On top of Norman’s supposed true nature, there is also the matter of Emma’s real opinion about his plans. The same leaks seem to suggest that she does not approve of the proposals that were brought up and that she has an issue with the demons perishing. The optics of this view are not good, with “The Promised Neverland” Chapter 122 potentially showing her siding with the demons.
Of course, context is important in discussions like this and “The Promised Neverland” Chapter 122 could have more information to support Emma’s point of view. When the chapter is released on Feb. 11, fans will know soon enough.
