US under Trump Series: Tech CEOs likely to dislike Trump even more

Tech CEOs have united in their call condemning President Donald Trump’s executive orders on immigration that suspends immigrants traveling to the United States from seven countries which are predominantly Muslim in their faith. Google CEO Sundar Pichai criticized the immigration ban by saying it will create barriers to bringing talents to the United States. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Mark Zuckerburg of Facebook, Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Elon Musk of Tesla; all have spoken against the executive order.

But their dislike for Donald Trump is likely to grow even more when the President signs the next executive order on H1-B Visas as well as L1 visas. The President is likely to sign orders to strangulate these work visas largely used by the tech companies and increase inspection and ends employment authorization cards to spouses on such work visas, which was recently introduced by the previous Obama Administration. The secretary of Homeland security would review all regulations to see whether they are compliant with the immigration laws and whether they are in the national interest of America or not.

The implications are likely to be serious for all tech companies both in the United States and the world. Indian IT sector could be hurt badly.
