USD review: Western Union

Quotes from Western Union:

- The greenback sprinted out of the gates to the new week, though it faces risks of its own in economic testimony over the coming two days by Fed Chair Janet Yellen. Markets will closely parse Ms. Yellen's words this week in hopes of gleaning insight on when the central bank might boost interest rates. Comments that suggest a later rather than soon move by the Fed would leave the buck a little vulnerable.

- This week's U.S. data has consumer confidence on Tuesday, inflation and durable goods Thursday, and a Friday revision of U.S. fourth quarter growth. A risk to U.S. importers' bottom line would be evidence of slower U.S. growth which would tend to push deeper into the year the timing of a Fed rate hike, a dollar-negative outlook. Customers finding the current market better than their budgeted exchange rates should take cover with the greenback not far from recent peaks.
