One of the most awaited video game conferences annually is Blizzard Entertainment’s BlizzCon that, for this year, will commence this weekend. It has not failed in being the main event where the company makes major announcements related to its popular titles such as “World of Warcraft.”
Many fans have been speculating that “World of Warcraft’s” current expansion, “Battle for Azeroth,” is close to its conclusion following a big update this fall. Additionally, there have been several leaks and clues suggesting that the location of the game’s next expansion could be already set in Shadowlands.
'World of Warcraft' update: Next expansion focuses on Shadowlands
What’s more interesting about the rumored next expansion of “World of Warcraft” is that the main information came from no less than Blizzard. The company opened its Blink Shopping through its online channels ahead of the BlizzCon 2019, but it might have revealed more information than necessary.
Players noticed that one of the ads highlights items for a certain “World of Warcraft: Shadowlands” title that later sparked speculations for the next expansion. Aside from t-shirts with the printed title, Blizzard’s online stores also reportedly offer a new printed art featuring the new Lich King, Bolvar.
Another leaked image has also been circulating online for the “World of Warcraft: Shadowlands” title. The same photo seemingly revealed that the next expansion will introduce a new area called Bastion and will be released with new abilities.
Polygon also pointed out that the “Battle for Azeroth” expansion has been making references to Shadowlands. Players may recall seeing the Shadowlands every time a character dies because it is practically the dimension where souls of the dead go in “World of Warcraft.” The same report added that Sylvanas Windrunner, who has been playing a significant role in the “Battle for Azeroth,” has frequently discussed death.
'World of Warcraft' next expansion could feature Lich King Bolvar as the new main antagonist
The Shadowlands has its own ruler, who is referred to as the Lich King. There is so much history in the development of this title that is currently held by Bolvar. This leads to another speculation that if Shadowlands is the focus of the next “World of Warcraft” expansion, Bolvar will most likely become the next main villain.
