A new report claims that up to 75 PC games are waiting to be added to the Xbox Game Pass catalog. It is expected to arrive to the subscription-based service once EA Play is launched for PC users.
Why EA Play’s PC launch on Xbox Game Pass delayed
The report comes from the Italian publication Aggiornamenti Lumia that also explains what caused the delay of EA Play’s launch for PC users subscribed to Xbox Game Pass. It can be recalled that EA’s library was supposed to become available to all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers in 2020. However, EA and Microsoft ended up decided to launch the service on Xbox consoles first and push its PC release date to 2021.

The same report claims that EA and Microsoft encountered difficulties in finalizing a method to distribute EA Play’s PC games into the Xbox Game Pass platform. Note that EA-published games for PC are officially sold on its own digital distribution platform called Origin.
Per a rough translation of the report on Reddit, it was claimed that the companies needed to establish a way for Origin to recognize Microsoft accounts with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions. One solution they reportedly figured is by adding (without the option to purchase) EA PC games into the Microsoft Store network.
75 EA Play titles to become available for PC gamers via Xbox Game Pass
The said method was purportedly applied for the Xbox versions of the EA Play titles since December. But the report also claimed that the same process was recently carried out for the PC versions of the EA Play games as well and that these have been codenamed “rosebud” on the Microsoft Store.
There are 75 games with the said codename, according to the same source, and they are all part of EA Play’s library of games for PC. This explains the suggestion that 75 games will be available on PC via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate once EA Play goes live for the platform.
The EA Play library is an exclusive perk for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers paying $14.99 a month. Microsoft has yet to provide a specific date when the EA Play library for PC will be live this year.
