Enedis said 59,000 electricity customers across France remained without service at noon local time (11 a.m. UTC) Sunday, Oct. 25, after storms Austen and Boelo, with Brittany and Normandy accounting for most reported outages.

Brittany had 27,500 affected customers and Normandy had 14,700, Enedis said. Together, the two regions accounted for 42,200 customers, or about 72% of the national total. Restoration operations were continuing in affected areas.

Earlier in the storm period, Reuters reported that an Enedis tally showed 161,000 customers without electricity by 1 a.m. ET Friday, including 128,000 in Brittany. EconoTimes' earlier report on French power outages also said Enedis had more than 2,000 employees and contractor firms on standby, with crews to deploy when weather and road access allowed. That earlier update named Pays de la Loire and Hauts-de-France among the regions most affected.
