Minneapolis, MN, Jan. 31, 2018 -- Eighty-three Minnesota volunteer high school students and their teachers will have the experience of a lifetime as they offer culinary assistance at this weekend’s Taste of the NFL, a high profile, star-studded fundraiser for hunger relief.
The students are part of ProStart®, a two-year high school career and technical education program developed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. With nearly 140,000 students across the country and programs in all 50 states, ProStart gives students a platform to discover new interests and talents through a curriculum that includes all facets of culinary arts and restaurant management, and sets a high standard of excellence for the industry’s next generation of leaders.
Minnesota ProStart students will be assigned to renowned chefs to help set up and prepare food on Friday and Saturday, serve tasting plates during the Taste of the NFL event and assist in the cleanup. The 35+ food stations will be hosted by each of the NFL teams and feature a current or former NFL star.
Taste of the NFL started in the Twin Cities in 1992 when Minneapolis hosted the Super Bowl for the first time. Each year, the event coincides with the big game in the hosting city. Since its inception, Taste of the NFL has donated $25 million to food banks and nonprofit organizations in the 32 NFL cities.
The event will be held Saturday evening at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. Doors open for VIP entry at 6:00 pm and guest ticket entry opens at 7:00 pm.
