A $1,000 change in Bitcoin (BTC) price changes the market value of Strategy’s 849,327 BTC holdings by about $849 million, based on the balance reported in its latest filing.
A Nov. 2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said Strategy bought 811 BTC for $65.5 million through Nov. 1, bringing its reported balance to 849,327 BTC.
The purchase averaged $80,846 per coin, including fees and expenses. Strategy reported a cumulative acquisition cost of $64.08 billion for its holdings, averaging $75,451 per BTC.
The filing said proceeds from a Class A share sale funded the purchase. EconoTimes previously covered the share-funded Strategy Bitcoin purchase.
The $849 million sensitivity is a calculation from the reported balance: multiplying 849,327 coins by $1,000 gives $849.327 million. The acquisition-cost total reflects what Strategy paid for its holdings; it is separate from their market value, which changes with Bitcoin’s price.
