The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) plans to send One Nation a cease-and-desist letter over its use of Bluey in a political animation, The Guardian reported, amid a dispute over intellectual-property rights.
The Guardian said the video shows the cartoon dog steering an SUV into caricatures of politicians. ABC managing director Hugh Marks told senators Oct. 27 that he learned of a potential breach the previous week and sought legal advice, the outlet reported.
Marks said he considered the use a clear breach and, in his view, an infringement of intellectual-property rights. He told senators, “We will be taking further action,” The Guardian reported.
Separately, Independent Australian Sen. Jacqui Lambie told ABC’s 7.30 program that One Nation leader Pauline Hanson had not offered her a personal apology over a cartoon about Lambie’s medical condition. EconoTimes previously covered Lambie’s account of the apology.
