In a Monday statement, ADC leaders in Nigeria’s South-West rejected reports of a regional leadership crisis and reaffirmed support for Atiku Abubakar as the party’s 2027 presidential candidate.

BusinessDay reported Tuesday that National Vice Chairman Akin Omole and the six state chairmen signed the statement. The officials also disputed reports of a virtual meeting with Atiku on Sept. 5 to address an alleged disagreement, calling those reports false.

The statement said a meeting in Ibadan on Sept. 4 focused on party organization, grassroots mobilization and election strategy across the region. The statement backed Aregbesola’s role and said consultations among party stakeholders were not evidence of a split.

The signatories said rival forces were trying to weaken ADC and called on party members to help Atiku and the party’s other candidates win across the six states.
