In results for the quarter ended Sept. 26, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) reported 45% year-over-year revenue growth and record Data Center revenue; shares were down 1.2% before Wednesday’s U.S. open.

AMD reported $13.377 billion in revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 26, up 45% from a year earlier. Its third-quarter results also showed Data Center revenue at a record $8.546 billion, a 97% increase from the year-earlier quarter.

Data Center accounted for about 64% of AMD's total revenue in the quarter. It had brought in $6.7 billion in the prior quarter, making the latest figure higher sequentially as well as a record. The segment's 97% annual growth was more than twice the companywide rate.

AMD shares were 4.53% higher at 6:58 a.m. ET and later peaked at an 8.1% gain before slipping into negative territory.

AMD cited EPYC processor demand and the rollout of Instinct MI450 Series GPUs as drivers of Data Center growth.
