The Associated Press called the race for Democrat Pia Dandiya in Florida’s 22nd District Tuesday, while CBS News also projected her victory under a new map the AP said was designed to boost Republicans statewide.

A Midterm Mondays tally citing the Florida Division of Elections listed Dandiya with 152,156 votes, or 51.9%, and Republican Casey Askar with 141,293, or 48.1%. The tracker showed 96% of precincts reporting at 10:21 p.m. ET Nov. 3; the figures were unofficial. Florida Election Watch’s page for the district showed zero votes for both candidates when checked.

The Florida Senate’s bill history records that HB 1-D passed both legislative chambers April 29 and Gov. Ron DeSantis approved it May 4. The map applies to Florida’s 2026 congressional elections.

Dandiya’s campaign biography says she was born and raised in Palm Beach County to parents from India. Her work includes teaching and serving as a high school principal, a White House Fellowship and public-sector work at Apple. In an October interview with CBS Miami, Dandiya said she wanted “to fight for a future that is worthy of my students, and now also my three-year-old son.”

Before the election, EconoTimes compared the candidates’ household-cost proposals.
