The Associated Press (AP) reported Democrats won control of the House and Senate, putting them in line to lead both chambers and set committee agendas when the next Congress convenes in January.

EconoTimes previously reported that 70% of Americans lacked confidence Trump would accept a midterm loss.

President Donald Trump told The New York Times on Tuesday, Nov. 3, that he would accept the midterm results and work with Democrats. The newspaper quoted him saying, “I am absolutely willing to accept those results.”

Trump called CBS News after the election, congratulated Democrats, and said he hoped to work with them “for the good of our country.” Before polls closed Nov. 3, Trump told CBS News, “I have the ultimate power — it’s called ‘veto.’” The Constitution allows Congress to override a presidential veto with a two-thirds vote in each chamber.

The U.S. Senate says the next Congress is scheduled to convene Jan. 3, 2027, when the new majorities will take control of chamber leadership and committee agendas.
