The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has asked a Federal High Court in Bauchi, Nigeria, to remove Tijjani Aliyu Mohammed from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) final candidate list, challenging his listing as the Peoples Redemption Party’s (PRP) deputy governorship candidate.

APM Legal Adviser Jidauna Tula Mbami discussed the filing with journalists in Bauchi, BusinessDay reported Oct. 25. The case reference is FHC/BAU/CS/70/2026; the report lists INEC, Mohammed and the PRP as defendants.

BusinessDay reported that APM wants the court to decide whether INEC’s Oct. 10 listing complied with provisions of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution (Sections 177(c) and 187(2)) and the Electoral Act 2026 (Sections 77(4), 77(5) and 77(6)).

Mbami said the PRP submitted its membership register to INEC on May 10, 2026, then held its primary on May 25. APM argues the party did not make the register available at least 21 days before the primary. It also alleges Mohammed remained a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on May 10.

The party wants the court to invalidate the publication and direct INEC to strike Mohammed from the final list. BusinessDay also reported that APM had filed another case a week earlier, disputing Senator Shehu Buba Umar’s eligibility for the PRP governorship nomination.
