Abbott Laboratories kept the midpoint of its 2026 adjusted earnings outlook after third-quarter sales exceeded MarketBeat’s estimate, with adjusted earnings per share matching the consensus.
Sales totaled $13.013 billion, 14.5% higher than a year earlier, Abbott said in an Oct. 21 release. MarketBeat had estimated $12.99 billion in revenue and $1.42 in adjusted diluted earnings per share; Abbott’s result matched that per-share estimate.
Net earnings calculated under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) came to $920 million, compared with $1.644 billion in the prior-year quarter. Diluted EPS was 53 cents, down from 94 cents.
Diagnostics sales were $3.305 billion, up 46.7% on a reported basis and 6.4% on a comparable basis. The division’s figures are part of EconoTimes’ earlier breakdown of Abbott’s quarterly business results.
Abbott’s comparable-sales calculation includes Exact Sciences revenue in both the current and year-earlier periods; the company completed the acquisition March 23, 2026. The calculation also removes foreign-exchange effects and revenue in both periods from Structural Heart compensation under a multiyear agreement.
The full-year 2026 adjusted diluted EPS range is $5.50 to $5.55 per share, with its midpoint unchanged. Abbott expects fourth-quarter adjusted diluted EPS of $1.62 to $1.67 per share and comparable sales growth of about 6% for the year.
