According to latest polls conducted by BMG Research, TNS, ORB, ICM shows the margin is narrowing and if the average numbers are taken then the Stay campaign is leading with just 3 percentage points while 13% of the people yet to make up their mind.
- BMG Research’s latest poll on March 29th shows, 45% of the people want out while 41% want to stay and 10% undecided.
- Poll by TNS showed both camps tied at 35%, while rest undecided.
- ORB’s research shows 51% want “Stay”, while 49% wants to leave.
- Two of ICM’s polls conducted on 20th and 24th March show stay camp is leading just by 2% in one and exit camp is leading by the same in the other.
Taking the average of polls, conducted since last two years, it can be concluded it is a very close call and recent events such as attack in Brussels, may have soured the mood further in Britain.
Moreover, while exit campaigner have their arguments straight, that they want more freedom, lesser regulations, more power at home, stay campaigners struggling to find an agenda, despite logics and political arguments being in their favor and thus relying on the fear factor.
Exit campaigners are attacking the government with whatever they can get their hands to, Tata Steel’s decision to sell UK business, budget cuts and so on.
While political drama lingers, market is showing its nervousness through Sterling, which is facing sharp sell offs from time to time.
Pound is currently trading at 1.423 against Dollar.
