Great Neck, NY, June 14, 2017 -- Accumedic Computer Systems, Inc., provider of intelligent EMR/EHR solutions, announced their strategic partnership with Healthix for improved health information exchange (HIE) integration in the New York area.

The mission of an HIE is to facilitate the coordination of care through the secure exchange of patient information to improve clinical outcomes, promote efficiency and reduce healthcare costs. Healthix, the largest public HIE in the nation, has partnered with Accumedic, a strategic electronic health record (EHR) to develop a hosted exchange platform or hub that allows Healthix to easily connect with multiple behavioral healthcare agencies and organizations utilizing Accumedic. This exchange of data will ultimately enable health care providers from across the state to efficiently and securely access a complete picture of the patient’s health information, with the patient’s consent, in order to make sound, informed and timely clinical decisions. N. Farrah Shapourian Donaldson, MPA, and Senior Manager for EHR Interoperability manages hub model integrations at Healthix. “Hub model integrations are an efficient, cost effective approach to advance HIE interoperability. Accumedic has built a robust interface with Healthix that allows the participant to send data, receive longitudinal clinical documents and real-time alerts all directly through their EHR.”
Peter Matulich, COO of Accumedic Computer Systems states, “for more than 30 years we have been successfully guiding our partner agencies through the dynamic changes in behavioral healthcare IT. This strategic partnership enables us to properly align our partner agencies with current Federal and State objectives and provide the forward-thinking, high-value solutions our clients have come to expect."
Healthix, a Qualified Entity (QE) in New York State and a partner in the Statewide Health Information Network of New York (SHIN-NY), will offer Accumedic clients a cost-effective way to connect to the SHIN-NY and qualify for funding through the Data Exchange Incentive Program (DEIP). To that end, Healthix will host an event on June 20 for Accumedic practices in greater New York to learn more about qualifying for these funds. To further incentivize the behavioral health community, for a limited time, both organizations have reduced their implementation fees to further support this effort.
NY Data Exchange Incentive Program (DEIP)
The DEIP was established to help increase HIE adoption across the state for Medicaid providers, including behavioral health organizations. Incentive funding has been made available for qualified behavioral health organizations to help defray the cost of connecting to their local Qualified Entity (QE). These EHR interfaces will increase the quantity and quality of data in the SHIN-NY. To qualify an organization must utilize an EHR that has obtained ONC Certification and that EHR must be able to send information electronically to the HIE in either CCD or C-CDA format. Limited funding is available and this program is operated on a first-come, first-served basis.
