Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Limited posted lower consolidated net profit for the July-September quarter, as expense growth outpaced revenue gains despite a modest increase in mutual-fund assets.

The asset manager reported consolidated net profit of ₹220.98 crore (₹2.21 billion) for the three months ended Sept. 30, 2026, down from ₹241.32 crore (₹2.41 billion) in the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2025. Its board approved the unaudited quarterly and half-year results on Oct. 21, the company’s filing showed.

Revenue from operations rose 4.9% to ₹483.81 crore (₹4.84 billion), from ₹461.32 crore (₹4.61 billion). Consolidated expenses increased to ₹230 crore (₹2.30 billion), compared with ₹190.87 crore (₹1.91 billion) a year earlier, a rise of about 20.5%. In rupee terms, expenses increased ₹39.13 crore, while revenue added ₹22.49 crore over the same period.

The mutual-fund business recorded quarterly average assets under management, or AUM, of ₹4.42 lakh crore (₹4.42 trillion), up 4% year over year, according to the company’s investor presentation. Management separately reported overall average AUM of ₹11.06 lakh crore (₹11.06 trillion), an increase of 140%. The broader measure includes alternate assets and an Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation mandate, according to the company’s presentation and earnings-call transcript.

The two growth rates cover different asset pools: the 4% figure is for mutual funds, while the 140% increase applies to overall average AUM. The filing also reported standalone net profit of ₹224.21 crore (₹2.24 billion), a separate measure from the consolidated result.

Investing.com reported that CFO Pradeep Sharma told analysts employee expenses included ₹12 crore to ₹13 crore in employee stock-option costs during the quarter. He also cited a ₹6 crore reversal of an old provision in the year-earlier comparison, normal annual increases and additional staff in the passive business as factors affecting employee costs. The transcript said Sharma expected those expenses to remain around Q2 levels in coming quarters.
