An Indian parliamentary panel reviewing public sector aviation enterprises plans to meet Air India Limited and IndiGo parent InterGlobe Aviation Limited on Nov. 2, Gulf News reported, citing a Lok Sabha Secretariat notice.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Undertakings is examining the performance of central public sector undertakings in aviation. Gulf News said the 22-member panel is led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda.
The panel’s schedule also includes representatives of two agencies: the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). BCAS oversees aviation security standards, while AAIB investigates aircraft accidents and serious incidents, the report said.
The review concerns government-owned enterprises, although neither airline is government-owned. The Tata Group took over Air India from the government in January 2022, and IndiGo is privately owned, according to Gulf News.
The reported notice lists the participants but gives no topics for the committee’s discussions with either airline on Nov. 2.
