India’s three largest private telecom operators posted different leaders on revenue per user, margins and subscriber growth. In the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Bharti Airtel reported the highest ARPU, while Reliance Jio Infocomm had the largest wireless mobile subscriber base and the most net additions in August.
| Operator | Q1 FY27 reported ARPU | Q1 FY27 reported EBITDA margin | Wireless mobile subscribers at Aug. 31 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bharti Airtel | ₹264 per user | 60.1% for India business | 491,599,117 |
| Jio Platforms / Reliance Jio | ₹215.6 per subscriber per month | 53.3% for Jio Platforms | 508,431,905 |
| Vodafone Idea (Vi) | ₹195, customer ARPU excluding M2M | 43.1% consolidated | 199,569,351 |
ARPU and margin figures are from company releases; subscriber counts are from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and include machine-to-machine (M2M) connections. The reported margins cover different business scopes and should not be read as a direct like-for-like ranking.
TRAI data show Jio added 2,401,562 wireless mobile subscribers in August, compared with 2,110,812 for Airtel and 506,139 for Vi. Jio Platforms also reported 8.9 million net subscriber additions in Q1 FY27 and monthly churn of 1.6%.
Vi’s 193.1 million customer base at June 30 was up from 192.8 million at the end of March. The company described Q1 as its first quarter of positive net subscriber additions since its merger. Its ₹195 ARPU rose 10.2% year over year, which Vi attributed primarily to customer upgrades. Vi nevertheless reported a ₹3,754 crore net loss for the quarter and disclosed ₹156,058 crore in combined deferred spectrum and adjusted gross revenue (AGR) obligations at quarter-end.
