Al Jazeera’s Nov. 6 episode of The Listening Post framed Democrats’ midterm sweep as a political repudiation of President Donald Trump and the U.S.-Israel war on Iran.

The program said election spending totaled nearly $12 billion. It reported that advertising took a significant share of the total, while most funds backed Republican candidates. Al Jazeera said the scale of the Democratic result had no parallel in midterm contests over the past five decades.

The episode examined the political and media consequences of the vote. Its guests included Arab American Institute Executive Director Maya Berry, Republican strategist Rob Arlett, a former Trump state campaign chair, and Alex Shephard, a senior editor at The New Republic.

In the post-election debate, Vice President JD Vance blamed the party’s losses on the conflict, while Trump acknowledged a temporary rise in gasoline prices associated with the war. EconoTimes covered Vance’s explanation of the losses and Trump’s gasoline-price comment.
