Anti-government protests in Tirana extended into a third week, putting Prime Minister Edi Rama’s government under pressure as police sought to break up masked crowds with water cannons, Al Jazeera reported Nov. 7.

Masked demonstrators also blocked roads and set off firecrackers during the rallies, the outlet said. Al Jazeera linked the unrest to criticism of alleged government corruption and poor education.
