Anadolu Agency has reported repeated Israeli incursions in southern Syria since Bashar al-Assad's government fell in December 2024; Alikhbariah TV said troops entered Jamlah Thursday.
Alikhbariah TV said Israeli forces entered Jamlah early Thursday and searched several homes. It reported that snipers were positioned on residential rooftops and that troops fired indiscriminately in residential areas.
Alikhbariah TV also reported Israeli tanks shelled the outskirts of Abidin village Wednesday. Anadolu Agency said no casualty reports had emerged immediately after the Jamlah operation.
The 1974 disengagement agreement established an area separating Israeli and Syrian forces under United Nations observation. Israel declared the agreement void and took control of the Syrian buffer zone.
