LAS VEGAS, Feb. 21, 2016 -- All About Cats Veterinary Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, announced that the vet hospital is currently offering discounted services for feline dental cleanings starting in February and continuing through June 1st, 2016. The discounted service is celebrating “National Feline Dental Health Month.” The veterinary team is offering discounted cleanings to encourage pet owners to schedule dental exams and cleanings for their pets. Dental disease is a leading health problem impacting cats. More than 70% of cats have symptoms of periodontal disease by the age of three. A professional dental cleaning is essential to reducing the risk for periodontal disease and other oral health problems.
Las Vegas cat owners can now take advantage of a new dental special being offered at All About Cats Veterinary Hospital starting in the month of February. Veterinarian Dr. Terri Koppe announced that the feline-only vet hospital will be offering discounted dental exams and cleanings in honor of “Feline Dental Health Month”.
“Over 70 percent of cats over the age of three have symptoms of dental disease, according to the American Veterinary Dental Society,” said Dr. Terri Koppe. “That’s a shocking figure, especially since many pet owners do not realize their cats are facing these health problems. The good news is that with proactive veterinary care it’s possible to reverse these figures. And that starts with a dental health exam.”
According to Dr. Koppe, even the most diligent pet owners can still miss the early warning signs for dental disease in cats. Symptoms of periodontal disease in cats include bad breath, yellow deposits on the teeth, drooling, pawing at the face, pus around the teeth, and red or swollen gums. “Cats are experts at hiding the illness symptoms, and the most common symptom of dental disease is actually a cat that acts totally normal” said Dr. Koppe. “Consequently, it can be challenging to detect the early warning signs for periodontal disease. The best way to identify oral health problems is with a comprehensive exam.”
As part of a feline dental exam and cleaning, plaque and tartar are removed from the gum line during anesthesia. Tartar deposits can push away the gum line, creating pockets that are susceptible to bacterial infections and cavities. X-rays of the teeth also provide information about tooth health that is hiding from view.
“If a bacterial infection enters a cat’s blood stream, it may damage a cat’s internal organs,” said Dr. Koppe. “Annual cleanings are essential to preventing gum disease and reducing the risk for health complications.”
Las Vegas veterinarian Dr. Terri Koppe founded All About Cats Veterinary Hospital in October of 2001. The vet hospital is an exclusive feline-only hospital providing medical, dental and surgical veterinary care for cats.
